A Closer Look at Cold DoT in POE 3.30 with U4GM

Big damage numbers are easy to get excited about, especially when you're deciding where your POE currency should go. These POE 3.29 setups aren't equally well documented, though. The Ghostly Artillery Strength Stacker is presented as a strong option for deep Delve and bosses in Curse of the Allflame, but there's no damage total, spending breakdown, or defensive explanation to work through. The Cold Damage over Time entry is thinner still. It names Luminary and Vaal Cold Snap without explaining how the character comes together. Both might deserve a closer look. Neither gives you enough information to compare costs or survivability with the retaliation Gladiator. That's where the useful discussion starts: not with which showcase looks flashiest, but with what the player actually reports.

The price jump needs a closer look

The Gladiator story starts with a showcased 20-Divine setup claiming roughly 187M DPS, then moves to a character funded with about 200 Divines and reporting conditional damage around 200M DPS. Those aren't interchangeable price points. You can't take the cheaper example's cost and attach it to the more expensive character's equipment. The player's interest makes sense, though. Their earlier bleed builds reportedly reached around 40-50M DPS, even with mirror-tier axes. Retaliation offered something different enough to replace plans for Righteous Fire and Death's Oath builds. The goal wasn't just a bigger number. It was broad clearing, little manual input while mapping, and enough single-target damage for Uber encounters. A nice combination on paper. The conditions behind it matter.

Retaliation doesn't stay ready on demand

Divine Retribution supplies the main damage, with Doryani's Prototype and Replica of Nebulis doing the scaling work. Pact of Beidat reportedly brings each boss cast to somewhere between 23 and 30 hits. Greater Spell Cascade remains an unanswered question, not an extra multiplier you should quietly include. The availability issue is more immediate. Gladiator, No Forgiveness, and Runegraph of Time reportedly give a 90% chance not to consume the retaliation cooldown. You still need a block, followed by the right cooldown outcome. The player estimates roughly 50/50 uptime and adjusts cooldown recovery in Path of Building to represent that. A cast time below 0.29 seconds leaves room for repeated casts, but the 200M figure isn't damage that's always waiting whenever you press the button.

Mapping is easier than the defensive shopping list

For ordinary packs, Cast When Stunned triggers Penance Brand of Conduction and Shock Nova. The player reports screen-wide clearing from incoming hits, with little need to cast Divine Retribution manually. That's the low-input appeal. Keeping the character alive takes more explanation. The described defense redirects all incoming elemental damage to Fire and Chaos, avoiding the exposure created by negative lightning resistance with Doryani's Prototype. Dawnbreaker, Watcher's Eye, and Divine Flesh provide part of that arrangement. Bound by Destiny and four Hunter-influenced items close the remaining 10% gap. That last portion isn't optional if you're relying on complete conversion. Mageblood adds movement speed, convenience, and support for high maximum Fire Resistance. The reported effective health exceeds 1M against hits, specifically.

Ground damage is a separate problem

Leave room for the unfinished parts

Righteous Fire adds spell damage, but the player describes ground degeneration as lethal while it's active. Switching it off reportedly makes T17 Abomination, Uber Sirus, and Uber Exarch much more comfortable. That distinction matters more than another impressive damage screenshot. Hit protection doesn't settle damage-over-time survival. A life-stacking variation is suggested, but there's no completed version or measured result to judge. Removing Lifetap is another unresolved goal. If you're planning to buy POE orbs for a similar character, work out the conversion pieces before chasing the headline damage. Keep the two budgets separate, allow for uneven retaliation uptime, and decide whether you're comfortable turning Righteous Fire off when the encounter calls for it.
