Premium EV SUVs in Nepal With the Most Useful Ground Clearance

A New shiny Electric SUV looks just brilliant as one walks into the showroom.

But the real kicks start once it encounters a badly placed speed breaker or a rough pothole or a steep road on the outskirts of the city.

This is the reason why ground clearance is important when you're purchasing an EV in Nepal.

The battery is located very low in an electric vehicle and Nepal's roads can change very abruptly from city roads to hill roads.

So, which luxury SUV cars have the maximum ground clearance in Nepal?

It's not always the luxury SUV with the highest number.

The practical option will vary depending on your driving location and style.

Premium EV SUVs Compared by Ground Clearance

OMODA E5 Pro

The figures are useful for comparison, but they should not be treated as a simple ranking.

1. JAECOO J6T: 225 mm for More Difficult Roads

The JAECOO J6T listed in this comparison has the most ground clearance of any of the models listed below (225 mm).

Listed as well is an water-wading capability of 625 mm.

The added height is a real benefit as things get more serious, such as potholes, damaged road edges, sharp ramps and uneven surfaces.

The J6T also comes equipped with a more off-road-oriented set up, with selectable driving modes and a multi-link rear suspension.

2. ICAUR V23: A More Rugged Design

The iCAUR V23 offers 210 mm of ground clearance, according to current Nepal-market reporting.

The boxier more rugged style to this SUV design is the reason it sits up higher than many battery driven vehicles have to date.

The V23 is aimed more toward buyers who want a compact electric SUV with a tougher character rather than a purely city-focused vehicle.

3. Mahindra XEV 9e: Large premium higher-clearance SUV

While the larger 250 km range, we saw in the teaser, might be a concern for range anxiety, the long ride quality and the larger size of this SUV will address your comfort requirements.

The XEV 9e sits in a higher tier of the EV segment with a 207 mm ground clearance.

While the actual price in the market in Nepal, according to the current listing, ranges from NPR 69 lakh for the base trim to NPR 87.2 lakh.

4. Mahindra BE 6: 207 mm With a Sportier Design

Likewise, the Mahindra BE 6 also has a ground clearance of 207 mm. The current coverage in the Nepal market makes it one of the EVs that have a ground clearance of over 200 mm.

Sportier than a boxy traditional SUV, the BE 6's 207mm of ground clearance gives it that unique mix of road at the top and undercarriage at the bottom.

Who should buy: buyers seeking a sporty appearance while preserving practical ground clearance.

5. Hyundai Creta Electric: 200 mm for Daily Driving

The Hyundai Creta Electric has a listed ground clearance of 200 mm in Nepal.

The various version have varying batteries and ranges, but the clearance figure is approximately the same.

Many drivers may find that 200 mm is a useful compromise. It offers additional clearance above potholes and speed bumps without toting the vehicle too far into an off-road look.

Which is reasonable for a vehicle that was mainly intended for urban driving, but should also be driven on the highway and rarely on the hills.

 6. Leapmotor C10: Moderate Clearance, More Road-Focused

The C10 4X4 has a ground clearance of 190mm. The company's brochure also states a wheelbase of 2,825 mm and rear independent suspension.

This is certainly a good example of the importance of not having the ground clearance by itself.

Longer wheelbases might cause an SUV to travel differently over a sharp ramp or dip, and the suspension also has an impact on uneven roads.

Hence it is more appropriate for regular urban and highway driving rather than rigorous severe terrain.

7. OMODA E5 Pro: Practical Clearance without a Rugged-SUV Set-up

OMODA E5 Pro has a ground clearance of 191 mm in Nepal.

This is a notch more than the Leapmotor C10 and several other high-end EVs that have been primarily engineered for all-road paved driving.

It's last here not because it has the lowest clearance but because it's embodying a different vision for what a high-end EV SUV should be doing.

The E5's primary focus is on everyday convenience and tech features, as opposed to rough off-road conditions.

Its 191mm height could come in handy on potholes, speed bumps and uneven city roads in Nepal, but it certainly is not trying to match the J6T's 225mm clearance for off-road prowess

What Ground Clearance Is Enough for Nepal?

For the great majority of city driving, anything between 180 and 190mm can be a sensible choice.

Drivers who often drive mainly on harsh terrain hill type roads will lean towards 200mm+ wheel travel.

But do not mistake it for water-wading depth.

A higher clearance vehicle isn't necessarily a safe vehicle to drive through the water

Tyres, suspension, approach angle, battery protection and traction all count.

Final Takeaway

The best premium SUV cars with the most ground clearance in Nepal actually totally depends on the roads that you are going to be using.

The JAECOO J6T stands out for its 225 mm clearance and terrain-focused design.

The iCAUR V23, Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 offer more than 200 mm, while the Hyundai Creta Electric sits at 200 mm.

The Leapmotor C10 and OMODA E5 Pro take a more road-focused approach with around 190 mm of clearance.

Thus, instead of picking the SUV with the highest number, consider your usual drives.
